Steve continues fight against breast cancer

12 July 2010

Steve joined Breakthrough Breast Cancer’s annual reception in the House of Commons on Monday July 12.

He committed to supporting the charity with five key actions- backing their ‘Touch, Look, Check’ breast awareness campaign, supporting the safeguarding of NHS screening services, tackling age inequalities regarding treatment of patients, defending the work and funding for specialist nurses and protecting funding for the Charity Research Support Fund.

Steve commented: “I am delighted to have attended the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Parliamentary Reception, and I am committed to keeping breast cancer high on the political agenda in this parliament. 46,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK, and one in nine women will develop the disease at some point in their lifetime.  I am looking forward to working with my local campaigners and taking action to help in any way possible in the fight against this disease.”
