18 July 2010
Steve and wife Susie attended Winchester’s Big Lunch event on Sunday July 18 in Abbey Gardens.
One Big Table was the city’s contribution to the national event that has the aim of bringing together and celebrating the increasingly diverse cultural communities in Winchester.
Among the diverse dishes available were treats from Thailand, China, India, Nepal, the Philippines and Africa. To add to the occasion there was also live music, dance and story-telling from around the world.
After an action-packed weekend when Steve also opened the Micheldever Fete and attended the Parchment Street Party, Steve commented: “This has already been a vintage Summer in Winchester with some fantastic events in the city and One Big Table is really terrific addition.
“It was lovely to see so many diverse communities gathered together and while we are not usually short of choice when it comes to finding lunch in town, the options on offer in Abbey Gardens on Sunday were mouth-watering.
“The organisers have really built well on last year’s event and I look forward to this becoming an annual event in the city’s Summer calendar.”
